Overview
Held on 7–8 May 2026 at the University of Seville, the seminar Adolescent Mental Health: A Community Intervention Perspective brought together researchers and specialists from Europe and Latin America to discuss one of the most pressing challenges facing contemporary societies: the mental health and well-being of adolescents and young adults.
Organised within the framework of the UNAM Europe Permanent Seminar and in collaboration with Ulysseus, the event explored community-based approaches to prevention and intervention in schools, neighbourhoods, urban settings and digital environments. Participants examined how social, economic and political factors shape mental health outcomes and shared experiences and strategies to strengthen support systems for young people.
The seminar also provided an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration and to advance the development of an interdisciplinary research network focused on promoting adolescent mental health across diverse cultural and educational contexts.
Aim of the Seminar
The seminar aimed to share knowledge, research findings and practical experiences on preventive interventions and community-based strategies to improve mental health and psychological well-being among adolescents and young adults.
It also sought to contribute to the development of an international research and action agenda that will support future initiatives at UNAM and its global partners, with a particular focus on designing, implementing and evaluating interventions that foster healthier and more supportive educational communities.
